MENTAL HEALTH LEAD

Family Counselling and Support Services for Guelph-Wellington is a multi-service Family Service agency providing support services to individuals, families, and children. FCSSGW is committed to strengthening individual, couple and family life; those dealing with physical, sexual and emotional abuse; trauma; helping people learn money management and strategies; supporting people with developmental challenges and those caring for them; and, more. FCSSGW offers a walk-in clinic for those wishing to stop in and speak with a counsellor without making an appointment.

FCSSGW is seeking a Mental Health Lead to join our team of professionals based in Guelph, Ontario. Mental health programs and services are expanding here at FCSSGW and we want you working with us as we journey into this exciting future.

Reporting to the Manager, Mental Health Services, the successful candidate will ensure a quality holistic approach to client care consistent with FCSSGW’s Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide clinical and administrative supervision to therapists and interns
  • Provide counselling to individuals, couples and families
  • Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of mental health programs:
    • Scheduling and planning to meet program objectives and targets
    • Assisting management with recruitment of new staff
    • Completing staff performance appraisals
  • Support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements
  • Implement logistics of new business opportunities

Qualifications

Masters degree in social work or a counselling field. Masters level degree in a counselling field (MSW preferred) with professional registration with a regulating body.

  • Proven employee supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated experience as a clinical supervisor of therapists and interns
  • Experience with administering an EAP (Employee Assistance Plan) program or similar
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in operation and use of a computer, related technologies and software required for the role(s) (MS Office, Caseworks)
  • Ability to work flexible hours (including evenings and Saturdays)
  • Demonstrated ability to work sensitively with people from many cultural backgrounds, levels of ability and income levels
  • This position requires the candidate to produce a Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the agency prior to the commencement of employment.
  • Travel, requiring valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and road-worthy vehicle

CLINICAL THERAPIST (Full-Time, permanent)

Family Counselling and Support Services for Guelph-Wellington is seeking applications for a part time Clinical Therapist to serve residents of Wellington County. This position is based at the agency’s Fergus location.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide assessment, counselling, and/or education to individuals, couples, families and groups
  • Be comfortable leading a group, a workshop, a project, or a program
  • Complete client documentation in a timely and professional manner
  • Ensure a holistic, quality approach to client care consistent with FCSSGW’s Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan
  • Ability to provide services in French and/or second language (in addition to English) will be considered an asset
  • Available to work flexible hours (evenings and/or weekends), required

Qualifications

  • Registered Master’s degree level mental health practitioner (e.g., social worker, psychotherapist, psychologist)
  • Registration in good standing with one of the Provincial colleges (i.e. OCSWSSW, CRPO, CPO)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of therapeutic theories as they relate to domestic violence
  • Demonstrated proficiency in operation and use of a computer, related technologies and software required for the role(s)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of the social service, justice, and health sectors an asset
  • 2-5 years of counselling experience in a trauma-informed human service agency or counselling/psychotherapy setting
  • Valid driver’s license, appropriate automobile insurance as required by FCSSGW
  • Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge and experience working with Caseworks or other similar Client Management Software an asset
